The Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre opened its doors in 1984. The center was located in New York City before being essentially transplanted to the City of Angeles. The U.S. Kabbalah Centre was an outgrowth of an organization that was founded in 1925 in what ultimately would be come the State of Israel.
The LA Kabbalah Centre does not require its students to have a knowledge of Hebrew and Jewish texts as a prerequisite to taking courses. This differs from many other Kabbalah organizations.
In addition to it main facility in Los Angeles, the Kabbalah Centre has locations in other major metropolitan areas including New York City, Toronto, and London. Additionally, the Kabbalah Centre has about 50 branches in other cities around the world.
In addition to the Los Angeles center, the Kabbalah Centre also oversees study groups all over the globe. A person can access Kabbalah Centre courses via the Internet in this day and age as well.
The Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre has been particularly attractive to celebrities with connections of some sort to Hollywood or the entertainment industry. The long list of famous folks connected to Kabbalah Centre has included Rosie O’Donnell, Naomi Campbell, Donna Karan, Elizabeth Taylor, Britney Spears, Roseanne Barr, James Van Der Beek, Kyle Richards, Heather McComb, Sandra Bernhard, Anthony Kiedis, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Lucy Liu, Alex Rodriguez, Mischa Barton, Paris Hilton, Ariana Grand, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie.
Singer Madonna has been particularly upfront in her involvement with the Kabbalah Centre. She is a major financial supporter of the organization. She has been active in establishing Kabbalah Centre branches in other cities.
